Istanbul, Turkey


Located between Asia and Europe, Istanbul is the perfect culture trip. Here you can find magnificent religious buildings such as the world famous Blue Mosque. The Hagia Sophia was built in 537 AD and was originally a Greek Orthodox Cathedral. After the Ottoman conquest, it became an Ottoman imperial mosque and is now a museum. This is the perfect landmark to visit to appreciate Turkey's history of West meeting East.

Bruges, Belgium


It's hard to avoid history among Bruges' cobbled streets and medieval buildings. Head the the Markt, or Market Square, to find the Belfry of Bruges, a medieval bell tower. Head inside and climb its 366 steps to experience some incredible views of the city. The Basilica of the Holy Blood is a Roman Catholic cathedral that holds a very rare relic, a piece of cloth believed to be stained with the blood of Jesus Christ. Hundreds of people visit the cathedral just to get a glimpse of it.

Athens, Greece


Athens has been a much loved destination of choice for tourists for many years, and with its abundance of ancient ruins, it's easy to see why. The most famous of its ancient sites is the Acropolis, a hilltop temple that dates back to the 5th century. Head to the Plaka to see even more acropolises, temples and tavernas. There are also numerous museums such as the National Archaeological Museum, to help guide you through if you are not too clued up on ancient history.

Kyoto, Japan


In Kyoto, you can explore a world of temples and a castle that dates back to the 10th and the 12th centuries. By taking a stroll down the streets of the town, it's hard not to notice the history of the city that is shown in many different places. In the forests there are magnificent, hidden temples such as the Kiyomizu-dera. This Buddhist temple in eastern Kyoto is part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take a visit to the castle of Nijo and walk along its nightingale floor: wooden planks designed to make a chirping sound when walked upon.

Bangkok, Sukothai and Chiang Mai, Thailand


Embark on a discovery of Thailand's famous temples. Bangkok, Sukhothai and of course Chiang Mai are where you can find a plethora of ornate Buddhist temples. You will be left in awe of their incredible architecture, and the buildings are of all different colors. The Buddha statues also vary and are equally as incredible as the buildings. The oldest temple in Thailand is the Wat Pho, which was completed during the 16th century.

Dehli, Jaipur and Agra, India


Embark upon a journey into the universe of the Indian Maharajas, the Great Kings. Visit what's known as the triangle of gold: the cities of Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. Admire the stunning palaces whilst taking in the modern sights and sounds everywhere you turn. The Hawa Mahal, known also as the palace of winds, has an impressive 953 windows said to be designed so that the ladies of the royal court could observe the events that unfolded in the streets behind the intricate latticework of the windows. A trip to India wouldn't be complete without visiting the Taj Mahal, arguably one of the world's most admired landmarks of heritage.

Zacatecas, Mexico


At the doorstep of the desert, Zacatecas offers landscapes that are dry and semi-arid. Here you can visit the beautiful silver cities, the ghost town of Real de Catorce and the vestiges of the Chichimec civilization of La Quemada. Zacatecas is simply stunning with its blue sky and contrasting red earth.

Petra, Jordan


Take off for an adventure to Petra and see the wonders of the Jordanian desert. Here you'll find a number of buildings dating back to the Byzantine period that are decorated with mosaics. Petra dates back as early as 300 BC and this archaeological site has taken influence from the Greeks, Romans and Egyptians. For even more culture, visit the towns of Amman and Madaba to see even more monasteries and tombs.

Oslo, Norway


In Oslo, the capital of Norway, you can learn about history of the Vikings. Head to the Vikinglandet, located just outside the city, which is a park dedicated to the country's Viking heritage. The island is well known for its outstanding Romanesque-Gothic buildings. After the French Revolution in the 19th century, Mont-Saint-Michel was used as a prison.
